About Us

The Ross Foundation formed based on the principle of continuing to support causes throughout the communities in West Virginia after the sale of SBR, Inc. The Ross Family believes that without its success in West Virginia, its companies would have never become a success, and therefore, the continuation of support within the communities throughout West Virginia is important to the family.

To coincide with this continued belief in giving to communities, the family realized that there were several areas of interest that need a critical focus within the state, including: Education, Arts / Cultural, Disabilities, Animals, Temporary Assistance and Community Initiatives. In the past, SBR did support many of the causes within these areas of interest, and the family wants to continue its pursuit to support the causes and expand the possibilities that it can play a role with on a consistent basis now that the foundation has a sole focus to improve the quality of life throughout West Virginia. The foundation will also be open to satisfying causes that can make a significant difference when needed outside of West Virginia, yet always look within the state before making that decision.

The family has always been open, and will continue to do so throughout the communities that it will support. Being open is a trademark for the family, and part of the reason why it has been successful. Therefore, the foundation must exemplify this stature and carry on the tradition and image of our family. This means constant communication with the nonprofits that it will play a role with and having an open-mind to support causes of all types that fit within the foundation’s areas of interest. The family welcomes the opportunity to reach out with organizations and its people alike to find innovative ways to make communities become a success.

The Ross Foundation and family shall continue their pursuit of bringing significant impact to the communities that have meant so much to them over the years. They shall continue to strive and seek out opportunities that create a lasting impact in West Virginia and elsewhere within the United States.
